Give Back With These Essential Yet Often Forgotten Donation Items

While all donations are appreciated, sometimes it’s good to branch out and donate items you may have never considered. If you’re looking around our senior apartments in Spring, Texas for items to donate, consider the following:

Personal Hygiene Products

Whether it's the mini toothpaste sample the dentist gives out, or the gifted body wash set that ended up stored under the bathroom sink and forgotten, most of us have extra hygiene products we don't need. No matter how small the item, products such as these are always in high demand in shelters in and around Spring

Two other organizations to consider when donating personal hygiene products are the Ronald McDonald House and the Salvation Army. Both of these organizations have multiple branches throughout Texas.

Spices

Spices are drastically overlooked when food products are donated to local shelters. After the basic needs of a full stomach, the comfort of flavorful food can be all it takes to improve someone's day. The next time you consider donating non-perishable foods, also consider throwing in a couple of unopened bottles of spices and herbs.

Artwork

Artwork such as old paintings, posters, photographs, etc. is not usually something we consider when wanting to donate. However, it has been well documented that being surrounded by blank walls can cause negative mental health effects. For needy families focused on putting food on the table, these findings still apply, and therefore donating artwork is more important than we may think.

Besides contacting local shelters and discussing donation options, another good way to donate art is through PickUpPlease. This organization will pick up small pieces of artwork from your door and deliver the pieces to American veterans and their families.

Another wonderful organization to consider would be Helping Hands of America.

Making a donation is an easy and immensely needed act of kindness. When thinking about what to donate, be sure to take the time to consider what items the organization you plan to donate to is in need of, but doesn't often receive. This extra consideration will be greatly appreciated and may be all it takes to make someone's day.

After dropping off donations, treat yourself to fresh air on of these great walks in the area. For more information on your future home at Augusta Woods, contact us today.
